The Black Country Canal Challenge

For a little while, I’m hijacking my Bostin’ Bab blog to share a new adventure.

Alongside my best mate, Hamish the Springer Spaniel, I’ve set myself the challenge of walking every walkable mile of canal towpath across the Black Country boroughs of Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

It’s a challenge that feels a bit daunting. I live with multiple sclerosis, and my health can be unpredictable. Some days walking comes easily; on others, even a short distance can be difficult. But the Black Country’s canals have always been special to me, and I wanted to do something that would push me, celebrate the place I love, and hopefully make a difference along the way.

I’m walking to raise money for three charities that are very close to my heart: the MS Society, the Alzheimer’s Society, and Black Country Brighter Lives, the charity of the Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

If you’d like to find out more about why I’m taking on this challenge, or if you’d like to support the charities, you can read more on my fundraising page.

Wish us luck, we’ve got a lot of miles ahead of us!
